Intermediate Drawing at the Richmond Art Center

An in-person, six-week Thursday eve (6-8 pm) class beginning Sept 12. Students with some drawing experience will further refine their skills though the exploration of foreshortening, perspective, composition, and form. Longer drawing times allow for reflection and additional instructor feedback as you work through individual challenges. Use the drawing media of your choice as you complete optional assignments at home, designed to reinforce what you learn in class. We'll draw still lives, the human body, and cover working from references. Leave with a set of solid drawing skills!

Summer 2025 Plein Air Painting

Spend several Fridays from 11-2 pm painting au plein air at several East Bay parks. Whether you are a beginner or a more advanced painting student, you'll enjoy discovering beginner-friendly painting spots, and improving your technique in the company of new friends.

This class covers a variety of topics: how to start a painting, choosing and mixing colors for landscape painting, brushwork, use of photos, and thinking in layers. You'll receive much or as little feedback as you desire. Use the media of your choice. We'll spend one session at each painting location, so that students can have sufficient time to complete a painting.
