Fundamental Drawing Parts I and II List of Materials
Recommended Stores: Michael’s in Pinole, Blick in Berkeley. Jerry’s Artarama (online).
Required Dry Materials
The General’s Drawing Class Set is cheaper, or buy one of these:
One kneaded rubber eraser
One small package of soft vine charcoal
One of each of these drawing pencils (4B 2B and HB)
18 x 24” newsprint pad, or a block of another type of cheap drawing paper
Plastic eraser for pencil
Tiny knife for making a long pencil lead
A cheap plastic 12”ruler
Required Wet Materials
Paper is the only thing you really have to bring. Bring the rest if if you already have it. I have most of the ink supplies we need (except for paper!).
A mixed-media paper pad about 12 x 16,” or a few loose sheets of mixed media paper for use during one session
Standard-sized nib holder
ONE Hunt drawing nib. Any of these will do: Hunt 513 EF Globe, 99 Standard Drawing, or 512 Bowl Pointed.
If you want to buy a drawing nib set instead instead of a loose nib, here are some good ones, just make sure you aren’t purchasing a calligraphy set:
Speedball Sketching set
Creative Mark Quill Lines Vintage nib set
Zig Manga pen nib holder + Saji-pen nib set
Pixnor Manga and Animation Drawing set
Optional
Black Conté crayon or Cretacolor stick
A couple of small (around 10 x 10”) pieces of fabric for spreading charcoal
A blending stick
Eraser pens for erasing tiny spaces
A white pastel stick
2 large clips with which to keep the pages of your drawing pad from moving if you use loose sheets
